We share a love of all things glass!

Find out more about us below.

How We Met & Got Started

Angelina and Cathy met by chance whilst selling our work in a Penarth Christmas market. Our shared love of all things glass saw us develop a friendship & continue to work together.

Glass By Design opened its doors in 2016 to fulfill our ambition of running a unique glass business on the high street.

What We Do

We work, make, and teach on site!

Every piece of glass on display has been made on site, often in full view of the visiting public.

We have also sought out some very special work from other Welsh Makers to show alongside our own work.

We teach glass courses on site and have visiting teachers for enamel, felt, wire, and paper courses. All the glass, tools and materials are available to buy on site.

COVID-19

We have worked hard to make the teaching area COVID-19 safe, with each student screened in their own work area. We stay up to date with the latest requirements and guidelines, and look forward to when we can welcome you back without masks and screens! More information can be found here.

Angelina Hall

"I still find creating a special wall, window, door panel or special gift inspiring. To take places and things of interest and pull them together into a unique design is very exciting."

Angelina has been working with glass for over twenty years and has gained a wealth of experience in the field. She has worked on a number of prestigious commissions and has exhibited her work widely. Whatever the requirements, she will listen and work with clients to design something very special just for them, while always aspiring to offer a very personal service. Angelina does not use pattern books and you can be assured, each piece is not repeated.

Cathy O’Doherty

Cathy is the person behind 'Cod Glass'. Based in Penarth, she has been working with glass since 1993 when her goal was to make a fan light above the front door. Little did she know where her addiction to glass & all its possibilities would lead. Her passion is fusing (melting glass in a kiln). Her work is quirky & colourful, often with an element of humour. Word play is a major theme, & she specialises in family tree crosswords which are a popular ‘special occasion’ gift. Each one is unique. She loves the challenge of working with a client to produce a bespoke item for them.

Commissions!

Angelina and Cathy both make unique commissions and will work with you to design a very special piece of art.

Whether this is a special present for a friend, loved one, wedding or anniversary, they will design for your budget, creating one off bespoke pieces just for you.
